Paola Gramatica, graduated in Chemistry at Milano University, is currently Full Professor of Environmental Chemistry and Cultural Heritage, past-Associate Professor of Organic Chemistry, at the University of Insubria (Varese-Italy). She has been the head of QSAR Research Unit in Environmental Chemistry and Ecotoxicology at the Department of Structural and Functional Biology (DBSF) since 1995.
Her present research field is in QSAR modelling and chemometric methods’ applications to environmental organic pollutants. Recent studies deal with tropospheric oxidations of Volatile Organic Compounds, POPs long-range transport and persistence, pesticide partition properties, mutagenicity/carcinogenicity of PAHs/PACs, Bioconcentration Factor and Endocrine Disruptors Chemicals (EDCs) modeling. The main field of interest is relative to Persistent Bioaccumulative and Toxic (PBTs) chemicals and validation of QSAR models. She is author of more than one hundred papers in international journals, peer reviewed (about 60 in QSAR field), and more than two hundreds presentations at meetings (mainly international. P. Gramatica is Member of the Managing Boards of the Environmental and Cultural Heritage Division of Italian Chemical Society (SCI), of the SCI Interdivisional Group of Green Chemistry and also Member of the OECD Expert Group on Quantitative Structure-Activity Relationships (QSARs).
