Razif R. Gabdoulline (University of Heidelberg, Germany)
Razif R. Gabdoulline received his Ph.D. in Theoretical and Mathematical Physics from Moscow State University. Afterwards he was working at Biological Research Center of Russian Academy of Sciences; Chemistry Department of Northern Illinois University, USA; European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) and European Media Laboratory (EML), Heidelberg, Germany. Currently he has a fellowship from the Center for Modeling and Simulation in the Biosciences (BIOMS), University of Heidelberg. His research topics are related to various aspects of modeling bimolecular interactions. One of the most successful research activity was his contribution to the development of Brownian dynamics simulation methodology to describe protein-protein and enzyme-ligand association. In QSAR area, he is working on using similarity ideas to compare proteins according to the interaction fields calculated from the 3D structures of these proteins. This usually allows classifying proteins on the basis of their interaction properties. Recent application of this methodology is for Systems Biology purposes, establishing quantitative relationships between interaction fields of enzymes and their kinetic parameters.
