Russ Naven received PhD from the Chemistry Department at the University of Nottingham in 1997, where he studied synthesis of novel aza-morphine analogues. Then he began the career as a synthetic organic chemist in the pharmaceutical company, AstraZeneca, designing novel drugs for the treatment of cancer and rheumatoid arthritis. Currently Russ Naven works for a software company in the UK called Lhasa Limited, which specialises in the production of software for the prediction of toxicity and metabolism. Scientific interests: structure-activity relationships for various toxicological endpoints (genotoxicity and HERG channel inhibition) for Derek for Windows knowledge base.
