Ilkay Yildiz received her M. Sc. (1989) and Ph. D. (1995) in Pharmaceutical Chemistry under the supervision of Prof. Ismail Yalcin from Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Ankara. She work at the same Department as an Assistant Professor (since May 1996), Associate Professor (since November 1998) and Full Professor (since March 2004). In 2000-2002 Ilkay Yildiz worked as a Visiting Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Emory University (Project “DFT studies on Taxol Biosynthesis and Molecular modelling of NMDA Antagonists” under supervision of Prof. Dr. James P. Snyder). Her research interests are related to the synthesis of heterocyclic compounds such as benzoxazole, benzimidazole, benzothiazole, oxazolopyridin as a potential antimicrobial, antitumor, antiviral and antioxidant agents; structure analysis (IR, 1H NMR, MS), computer-aided drug design (QSAR and molecular modelling). In 1996 Ilkay Yildiz obtained Toprak Ilac, Science award. |
